Frisco ISD to provide $250 stipend for classroom supplies

Frisco ISD employees will be given $250 to help pay for classroom supplies for the 2024-25 school year.

The district’s board of trustees approved the stipend during an Aug. 19 meeting. FISD has provided these stipends every year since 2018, said Kimberly Smith, chief finance and strategy officer.

The details

Employees eligible for the stipend include:

  • Librarians
  • Teachers
  • Teacher facilitators
  • Speech therapists and speech language pathologists

The stipends are not built into the 2024-25 budget but are paid for with fund balances set aside from 2018, Smith said.

Looking back

In the 2018-19 school year, teachers and staff received $250 for new supplies through additional funds the district received after its tax ratification election. Employees also received a stipend after the 2019-20 school year to assist those who used personal equipment and supplies during COVID-19 closures.
