Texas QB Quinn Ewers declares for the 2025 NFL Draft

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers has officially declared for the NFL draft.

What You Need To Know

  • Ewers is joining many other teammates that have declared for the draft, including Jaydon Blue, Kelvin Banks Jr. and Hayden Connor
  • There was a question of whether Ewers would opt to continue playing at the college level. Reports started circulating at the end of December about Ewers being offered $6 million in the transfer portal
  • Ewers will end his college career with 737 completions, 9,128 passing yards and 68 passing touchdowns–putting him just behind quarterbacks Colt McCoy and Sam Ehlinger in each of those statistics
  • The 2025 NFL Draft begins on April 24 in Green Bay, Wisconsin

Ewers posted a video on X where he reflected on his time at the University of Texas at Austin and announced his next steps.

“With prayer and careful consideration, I am officially declaring for the NFL Draft,” Ewers said in the video before a montage of his college highlights.

Ewers also led the team to back-to-back College Football Playoff appearances.

“I’m truly thankful for the opportunity to play football in my home state at the best university in the world,” Ewers said in the video announcement.

The Texas native attended Southlake Carroll–a Dallas-area high school–and took his team to the 6A Division I state championship game during the 2020 season. Ewers ended up losing that game to Westlake High School–an Austin-area school.

Before becoming the starter at Texas, Ewers briefly attended Ohio State, who already had a star quarterback in CJ Stroud. Ewers transferred to Texas hoping to get the starting job quicker.

  • Quinn Ewers (quarterback)
  • Jake Majors (center)
  • Hayden Conner (offensive lineman)
  • Kelvin Banks Jr. (offensive lineman)
