Formula Fig’s JJ Walsh on Her Skincare Routine Filled With High-Tech Facials, Salmon DNA and LED-Light Therapy

Feel good in your skin! Formula Fig founder JJ Walsh sat down with ET to reveal how she prioritizes skincare with high-tech facials, fish DNA, and more.

And while her wellness routine is plentiful now, the businesswoman has come a long way.

“I wasn’t always into skincare. It wasn’t until my 30s and after having a few children, that I realized the importance of it,” she spills.

“Looking back, I wish I’d been more diligent about applying sunscreen and introduced actives into my routine in my mid-20s,” she admits.

Since then, Walsh faced common skincare concerns like hormonal breakouts, hyperpigmentation, and fine lines and wrinkles, and created a solution with the opening of her immersive facial spas in Los Angeles, California and Canada in 2019.

Now, the CEO prioritizes monthly facials paired with extra add-ons every six weeks.

“The All-In is my one-stop favorite. It includes physical exfoliation, ultrasound, and a range of other high-tech modalities,” she notes.

From there, you can include the Collagen and Texture option for an immediate glow with nano-needling with silicone tips, or their newest innovation, the Longevity Treatment, which is Formula Fig’s take on the popular salmon sperm facials loved by Jennifer Aniston, Kim and Khloé Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Amanda Kloots, and Denise Richards.

Think: A 60-minute microneedling session with a mixture of PDRN, a.k.a. salmon DNA, exosomes, and copper peptides to increase collagen production, finished with LED light therapy to heal the skin.

“Together, these ingredients reduce inflammation, boost hydration, accelerate recovery, and stimulate regeneration at a cellular level,” Walsh explains.

As for the results? “Expect improved skin texture, tone, and elasticity. You will build a stronger, more resilient skin barrier beautifully over time. It’s not about a quick fix, it’s about transformation.”

“For me, skincare is less about beauty in a traditional sense, and more about vitality and wellness. … Time is one of my most important currencies, so efficacy and efficiency guide my skincare routine. I’m diligent, but it has to take less than five minutes in the morning and night,” she says.

“I’ve become someone who just needs a solid skincare routine, a slick of mascara, and a bit of under-eye cover-up to feel ready for the day. … When my skin feels and looks vibrant and healthy, it boosts my confidence.”
