The National Hockey League is battening down the hatches in preparation for the 2026 edition of their Stadium Series outdoor game.

The game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Boston Bruins will take place on February 1, 2026, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. And, as a nod to the pirate culture and history of the area, the logo unveiled on Tuesday, August 5, features a large pirate ship sailing through icy seas.

The logo was developed by the NHL’s Creative Services Department and Fanbrandz. The silhouette of the pirate ship is navy blue, with highlights in various shades of orange — possibly a nod to the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the usual tenants at Raymond James Stadium. A “STADIUM SERIES” wordmark cuts between the hull of the ship and the main sail, with typography “inspired by hand-drawn treasure maps” in shades of white and blue.

A lightning bolt appears in the corner of the sail as a nod to the home team, and “TAMPA BAY” is written out on the side of the hull. Light blue cannons protrude from the side of the ship while waves in different shades of blue crash around its sides and snow and ice sit on the hull and sail. An almost-red flag reading “2026” waves from the top of the mast.

The Stadium Series game in Tampa will be the first time the NHL has hosted an outdoor game in a football stadium in Florida. It will also be “the culmination of a month-long celebration of hockey in the Sunshine State” that begins with the 2026 Winter Classic between the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers at loanDepot Park (home of Major League Baseball’s Miami Marlins) on January 2.

The two outdoor contests will celebrate the explosive growth of hockey in Florida over the last three decades. In the more than 30 years since the NHL expanded into Florida, the Panthers and Lightning have enjoyed significant success, including most recently with each of the last six Stanley Cup Final series featuring one of the Florida franchises.
