{"id":1003,"date":"2024-08-19T10:21:15","date_gmt":"2024-08-19T10:21:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/friscotimes.org\/?p=1003"},"modified":"2024-08-19T13:14:06","modified_gmt":"2024-08-19T13:14:06","slug":"dortmund-reports-highest-revenue-in-club-history-just-a-few-months-after-the-sale-of-english-midfielder-jude-bellingham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/friscotimes.org\/?p=1003","title":{"rendered":"Dortmund reports highest revenue in club history\u2014just a few months after the sale of English midfielder Jude Bellingham"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div data-cy=\"article-content\">\n<p>Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund on Friday announced the highest single year turnover figure in their history, with the club generating 509.1 million euros ($559 million) last season.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<p>The amount, which does not take into account money raised from transfer fees, represents a 24 percent increase on the previous season.<\/p>\n<p>Despite a disappointing fifth placing in the Bundesliga, Dortmund\u2019s surprising run to the Champions League final, where they lost 2-0 to Real Madrid, was the major reason for the club\u2019s record income.<\/p>\n<p>Increased TV revenue and merchandising were also factors in the increase.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is my 20th annual press conference, and it\u2019s certainly one of the most satisfying ones,\u201d club boss Hans-Joachim Watzke said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The actual revenue is likely to be significantly higher, as Dortmund sold English midfielder Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid for 103 million euros during the reporting period.<\/p>\n<p>Dortmund, the only German side floated on the country\u2019s stock market, said they will pay a dividend of six cents per share as a result of the record results.<\/p>\n<p>As with all German football clubs, Dortmund must comply with the 50+1 rule, which ensures member control and restricts outside investment or ownership.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sc-1de0461b-0 yuNst article\" data-cy=\"subscriptionPlea\"><strong>Recommended Newsletter: <\/strong>High-level insights for high-powered executives.
