{"id":1069,"date":"2024-08-23T06:49:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-23T06:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/friscotimes.org\/?p=1069"},"modified":"2024-08-23T06:49:00","modified_gmt":"2024-08-23T06:49:00","slug":"frisco_isd_to_provide_250_stipend_for_classroom_supplies-html","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/friscotimes.org\/?p=1069","title":{"rendered":"Frisco ISD to provide $250 stipend for classroom supplies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\nFrisco ISD employees will be given $250 to help pay for classroom supplies for the 2024-25 school year.<\/p>\n<p>The district\u2019s board of trustees approved the stipend during an <a href=\"https:\/\/meetings.boardbook.org\/Documents\/WebViewer\/2014?file=1a5ea34c-f3f0-47c7-966c-6ba31eef7690\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aug. 19 meeting<\/a>. FISD has provided these stipends every year since 2018, said Kimberly Smith, chief finance and strategy officer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The details<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Employees eligible for the stipend include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Librarians<\/li>\n<li>Teachers<\/li>\n<li>Teacher facilitators<\/li>\n<li>Speech therapists and speech language pathologists<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The stipends are not built into the 2024-25 budget but are paid for with fund balances set aside from 2018, Smith said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Looking back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/frisco\/education\/2018\/12\/11\/frisco-isd-adds-positions-classroom-supplies-stipend-with-tre-funds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018-19 school year<\/a>, teachers and staff received $250 for new supplies through additional funds the district received after its <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/frisco\/editors-pick\/2018\/08\/07\/695m-bond-tax-election-proposed-as-frisco-isd-ages-grows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tax ratification election<\/a>. Employees also received a stipend after the 2019-20 school year to assist those who used personal equipment and supplies during <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/frisco\/education\/2020\/06\/09\/coronavirus-stipend-for-frisco-isd-employees-approved-by-board-of-trustees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COVID-19 closures<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Frisco ISD employees will be given $250 to help pay for classroom supplies for the 2024-25 school year.
