Bruce Springsteen has poured cold water on the notion that he is a billionaire, saying 10-figure estimates of his net worth are \u201creal wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n

Outlets like Forbes<\/a><\/em> have estimated The Boss is worth $1.2 billion\u2014owing to his vast catalog of studio and live albums, which he sold to Sony in 2021 for $500 million. <\/a><\/p>\n

But the New Jersey native has set the record straight, bluntly telling media: \u201cI\u2019m not a billionaire.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish I was, but they got that real wrong,\u201d Springsteen told the<\/a> Telegraph<\/a><\/em> in a recent interview. \u201cI\u2019ve spent too much money on superfluous things.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 75-year-old rock-and-roll legend released his first studio album\u2014Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.<\/em>\u2014more than 50 years ago and has been touring ever since<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He wants to enjoy the fruits of his labor, adding people should enjoy their \u201cgood fortune\u201d because after all, \u201cyou put the work in.\u201d <\/p>\n

But the father of three said he\u2019s never let the finer things in life distract him from the bigger picture, adding, \u201cThat\u2019s usually where people go south.\u201d<\/p>\n

Protecting his talent was key to ensuring that didn\u2019t happen, he added: \u201cIf I had failed at that, I would have failed at everything, in my opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Superfluous\u2019 spending<\/h2>\n

What Springsteen would class as a \u201csuperfluous\u201d spend isn\u2019t clear, but his philanthropic and charitable spending is well-documented.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year it emerged that the rocker donated $20,000\u2014the equivalent of more than $58,000 in 2024 currency\u2014to support miners in the north of England in the 1980s, who were on strike at the time. <\/p>\n

Springsteen handed two miners\u2019 wives\u2014Juliana Heron and Anne Suddick\u2014the check at a gig in Newcastle in 1985, without any publicity.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe just said, \u2018I truly support what the miners are doing for their communities. I want to present you with this cheque,\u2019\u201d Heron told the BBC<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n

A year prior<\/a> Springsteen and his wife, Patti Scialfa, donated $100,000 to the restoration of the Turf Club, a music venue dating back to the 1960s, in Asbury Park, where the musician grew up. <\/p>\n

Indeed the Born in the U.S.A.<\/em> singer-songwriter has stayed close to his roots and in 2019 gave fans some insight into his home life.<\/p>\n

Springsteen shows CBS\u2019s Gayle King around his home studio in New Jersey<\/a>, where he has recorded the majority of his music over the past 15 years.<\/p>\n

A portion of Springsteen\u2019s wealth also apparently goes to keeping livestock, as he showed King his pet pigs and horses.<\/p>\n

Springsteen and politics<\/h2>\n

The front man known for his tours alongside the E Street Band is also forthcoming about his political inclination. <\/p>\n

Springsteen was a staunch supporter of President Obama, frequently headlining concerts and appearing at rallies for the former Democratic commander-in-chief. <\/p>\n

Whether or not Springsteen donates to Democratic nominees isn\u2019t known, but the \u201cThunder Road\u201d singer has come out in support of Harris<\/a> in the upcoming presidential election.<\/p>\n

He told the Telegraph<\/em> this month he\u2019s \u201cnot that anxious\u201d about the outcome of the White House race because he believes Harris will win, though adding, \u201cOf course, I\u2019ve been wrong before about this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Springsteen continued, referring to Donald Trump: \u201cIn the States, there\u2019s an enormous anxiety, however, at losing the things that are dearest to us, the danger of losing democracy, rule of law, peaceful transfer of power. And this is a guy who is committed to none of these things.<\/p>\n
