Before the season, the expectation was for Dart to redshirt behind Wilson and Jameis Winston, two veterans who have proven themselves in the NFL for years. But just three games into the season, the Giants decided to discard that plan.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no denying that there\u2019s pressure on Daboll and the Giants to get this figured out. Sitting at 0-3, New York media is already questioning where the Giants will find their first win \u2013 and how long Daboll will remain the coach of the team.<\/p>\n

This noise has been amplified by external factors. Saquon Barkley helped the Philadelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl and has remains the engine of that backfield in the NFC East<\/a>. Daniel Jones, who the Giants decided to move on from, has the Colts sitting at 3-0 and could potentially reclaim his career in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Giants have sputtered. Wilson has looked terrible<\/a>. Last year\u2019s first-round pick Malik Nabers is not being used enough because of how bad the quarterback play has been.<\/p>\n

And while the defense certainly is not the worst in the NFL any longer, the Giants likely felt as if they had too many things working against them, making the easy decision to let the rookie play.<\/p>\n

New York traded back into the first round, selecting Dart out of Ole Miss with the No. 25 overall pick. He flashed before the season began for the Giants, celebrating throughout the preseason with Jameis Winston<\/a> and Tommy DeVito, who would later be released.<\/p>\n

But Wilson muddied any hopes that Giants fans had of being one of the early-season darlings in the NFL this year. His completion percentage sat under 60 percent and he threw three touchdowns with three interceptions. But if you watched the games closely, the play on the field was somehow worse than the record and stats showed.<\/p>\n

Wilson\u2019s time expired with the Seattle Seahawks, but the Denver Broncos moved mountains to trade for the former Super Bowl champion in 2022. Quickly, they realized that he no longer had the same juice that contended for an MVP in 2019 and decided to cut bait, drafting Oregon\u2019s Bo Nix to move off of the massive mistake.<\/p>\n

This chapter likely marks the end of the road of Wilson\u2019s time as a respected starting quarterback in the NFL. A season ago, he was able to keep the car on the road for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they were blatantly exposed in their first playoff game and Mike Tomlin had no issue moving on from Wilson.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no doubt that starting Dart could be a risk. If it does not work out, critics will point to him being the youngest quarterback in the class who played in a notoriously quarterback-friendly offense throughout his college career.<\/p>\n

In the event of a complete implosion, the Giants likely move on from the entire staff that brought Dart in and force a marriage with a new coaching staff.<\/p>\n
