President Donald Trump has insisted it will not come out of taxpayers\u2019 wallets,  though public funds are being used for underground security work connected to the project, according to the <em><a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/white-house-ballroom-donald-trump-lawsuit-bcbe5b42723fcae1870d55b5921404b5\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/white-house-ballroom-donald-trump-lawsuit-bcbe5b42723fcae1870d55b5921404b5\">Associated Press<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The ballroom project has taken on new urgency for Trump and his allies after after a suspect allegedly attempted to storm the White House correspondents\u2019 dinner on Saturday, which they have pointed to as evidence that presidents need a secure venue for large events on White House grounds. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat happened last night is exactly the reason that our great Military, Secret Service, Law Enforcement and, for different reasons, every President for the last 150 years, have been DEMANDING that a large, safe, and secure Ballroom be built ON THE GROUNDS OF THE WHITE HOUSE,\u201d\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116471074928310119\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116471074928310119\">Trump wrote on Truth Social<\/a> on Sunday. \u201cThis event would never have happened with the Militarily Top Secret Ballroom currently under construction at the White House. It cannot be built fast enough!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department also cited the incident as it pressed the National Trust for Historic Preservation to drop its lawsuit challenging the project. In a Sunday <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/x.com\/DAGToddBlanche\/status\/2048484273720607005?s=20\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DAGToddBlanche\/status\/2048484273720607005?s=20\">letter<\/a> posted by acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate wrote that \u201cwhen the White House ballroom is complete, President Trump and his successors will no longer need to venture beyond the safety of the White House perimeter to attend large gatherings at the Washington Hilton.\u201d The department later filed a court motion asking a judge to reconsider a lower-court pause on construction.<\/p>\n<p>A list released by White House officials and reviewed by <em>Fortune <\/em>shows all 37 donors helping fund the ballroom\u2014and it includes some of the nation\u2019s largest tech companies, companies with government contracts and members of the administration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Their private, tax-deductible <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/donors-funding-white-house-ballroom\/story?id=126778550\" href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/donors-funding-white-house-ballroom\/story?id=126778550\">donations<\/a> will be made to the nonprofit Trust for the National Mall. The White House did not release the size of the donations for all 37 listed. Trump has previously <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/time.com\/7327752\/trump-white-house-ballroom-funding-donors\/\" href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7327752\/trump-white-house-ballroom-funding-donors\/\">said<\/a> he will pay for some of the project, though his name doesn\u2019t appear on the list. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Corporate Donors<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>1. Meta Platforms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously attended a White House dinner for tech leaders in September, where he pledged at least $600 billion in investments in the U.S. by 2028. Meta, the parent of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, frequently engages with federal digital policy initiatives and AI oversight forums.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Apple<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The company <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.apple.com\/newsroom\/2025\/08\/apple-increases-us-commitment-to-600-billion-usd-announces-ambitious-program\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/newsroom\/2025\/08\/apple-increases-us-commitment-to-600-billion-usd-announces-ambitious-program\/\">announced<\/a> plans in August to invest $100 billion in domestic manufacturing, aligning with Trump\u2019s wishes to reshore industrial work. CEO Tim Cook also attended the White House dinner last month and has maintained a close relationship with the administration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.
