Huge waves strike Peruvian coastline

Three-quarters of all ports in Peru have been closed because of huge waves lashing the coast.

Beaches are closed and fishing boats have been prevented for heading out to sea as a safety precaution.

The waves are being caused by persistent winds off the coast of the United States, according to The Chief of Hydrography and Navigation for Peru’s Navy, Enrique Varea.
