Cinemark celebrates 40th anniversary with $5 movies


Cinemark will offer $5 select movies in honor of its 40th anniversary.

The overview

The theater will offer select 1984 movies from Aug. 12-18, with “The Karate Kid” shown as the Aug. 12 movie. Upcoming films for the next week include:

  • Aug. 13: “The Terminator”
  • Aug. 14: “Gremlins”
  • Aug. 15: “Purple Rain”
  • Aug. 16: “Ghostbusters”
  • Aug. 17: “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “The Last Starfighter”
  • Aug. 18: “Footloose” and “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”

What else?

The Plano-based company operates more than 500 theaters in 42 U.S. states as well as in 13 South and Central American countries, according to its website.
